Misunderstandings (A Theory of Photography) from 1967-1970, Mel Bochner - SFMOMA

From Horses Think:

Misunderstandings (A Theory of Photography) from 1967-1970 isn’t photography per se but it definitely touches on and explores many ideas surrounding the medium.

In a portfolio of nine photo offset prints on white lined notecard, Bochner compiled a selection of quotes relating to photography and included three that were fakes. Those were then placed in a manilla envelope with one offset printed photograph.

See an interview of Mel Bochner and Hans Ulrich Obrist and Sandra Antelo-Suarez at http://www.e-flux.com/projects/do_it/notes/interview/i003_text.html

Mel Bochner:

(born 1940) is an American conceptual artist. Mr. Bochner received his BFA in 1962 and honorary Doctor of Fine Arts in 2005 from the School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University. He lives in New York City.

I always enjoy going to the SFMOMA and looking at Modern Art.  The work makes you think, insults you, and inspires.  I also like the area where visitors can create their own art or comments.  This one got to my funny bone.
